On the 11th day of the trial of Derek Chauvin, who is being tried for the murder of George Floyd, the following individuals were called to testify: Dr Jonathan Rich, Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, and former police officer Seth Stoughton.

The defence team argued that the cause of George Floyd’s death was a heart attack, a result of a pre-existing health condition. Dr. Jonathan Rich, a cardiologist, examined Floyd’s medical reports, including a toxicology report, and found no evidence that Floyd’s death was caused by a heart attack. He stated that there is no medical evidence that anything but Derek’s Chauvin’s actions caused the victim’s death.

Philonise Floyd, the victim’s brother, testified that his brother had been a good role for his younger siblings and taught them to treat their mother with love and respect. He shares that his brother had a loving and close relationship with their mother, Larcenia Floyd.

Former police officer, Seth Stoughton, was brought in to testify as a use of force expert. Stoughton commented that George Floyd showed no signs of assaulting or threatening the officers and that Chauvin’s actions were not a reasonable or acceptable use of force for a police officer.
