Carolyn Brady has been crowned Miss Maine. She is the first Black woman to receive this title in the state of Maine. Brady is a talented violin player and a graduate of Bowdoin college. She is using her influence in this role to support and highlight black businesses. For Black History month, she decided to support more black-owned businesses such as Rwanda Bean, a coffee company which ensured that 50% of the profits go to Rwandan farmers for each cup of coffee sold. Also, she has set up an initiative to support black businesses and encourages American citizens to support black owned businesses too.
