President Samia Suluhu Hassan pardons 5001 prisoners

 President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced that she has pardoned 5001 inmates in prisons across Tanzania. 1516 of the inmates had a quarter of their detainment reduced and have been released. A further 3485 prisoners had a quarter of their sentence reduced and will continue to serve the remainder of their sentences. The President has encouraged the detainees to make use of the training and educational opportunities they receive in the correctional institutions so they can successfully integrate into society and make a positive contribution to their nation.
