We require a reliable, dedicated, knowledgeable and outgoing person to provide the secretarial/admin duties to the Board of Trustees and to support the governance and strategic development of African Sons and Daughters (ASD) and assisting in leading and steering the organisation in accordance with the vision, values, and strategic objectives.
The mission of ASD is to promote and encourage the physical, social and economical wellbeing within the African community. Through a network of ASD Branches we will offer members of the public the opportunity to support and participate in worthwhile social services offered in their community.
We are currently recruiting for an individual with the expertise, time and enthusiasm to become the African Sons and Daughters Secretary to the Board of Trustees, providing sound secretarial skills and expertise, ensuring the smooth operation with the Chair and Vice Chair of the ASD Board of Trustees.
Skills and expertise needed for this opportunity include;
• Good sound knowledge and experience of secretarial/admin work;
• A good understanding of Governance;
• Knowledge of charity law (Desirable but not essential)
• Previous Trustee/Secretary Role experience within a charity (Desirable but not essential)
As the Secretary to the Board of Trustees you will be the backbone of the team, supporting the Chair and Vice Chair to ensure the smooth running and operation of the Trustee board, in line with HMRC and the Charity Commission and be able to set up admin/secretarial systems, policies and procedures to support the set up of this new community organisation.
If selected to join our Trustee Board, you will be expected to attend;
4x board meetings annually, including writing and typing minutes;
4x quarterly Sub Committee meetings;
2x annual 1 day Board away/development days;
1x AGM (Annual General Meeting)
Plus any additional board meetings, and committee meetings (as agreed).
